The Green Man Festival

This weekend I’ve been Physics Busking at the Green Man Festival in Glanusk Estate in Wales. The only thing I can say is, what a fantastic experience! The aim of the busking was to encourage kids into science, and to get the parents interested to. Some of the tricks where fairly simple, like making Balloon Kebabs by pushing a kebab skewer through a balloon without making it pop, or alka-seltzer rockets, using a photo film canister thing, some alka-seltzer and some water to make the canister shoot into the air. Others where simple to do but had more complex explanations, like making cornflour slime with cornflour and water. This acts like a solid when you apply a force to it, like rolling it around your hands in a ball, but as soon as you take the force away, it turns into a liquid again. All of these tricks are really good fun, and attracted a huge amount of attention. We even had parents asking how things worked, which is a huge success.
While not doing the Physics stuffs, I did have time to listen to some of the music and explore the festival. Since I didn’t know many of the names of the acts, I just wandered around a bit and listened to what I liked! Seasick Steve was really fantastic, and I’m seriously considering buying one of his albums now.
