New Year, New Starts

by Matt on Jan.06, 2008, under life

Well, it’s 2008. I’m already back ready for Uni after leaving a week early on doctors orders. The brief trip into hospital with suspected meningitis was , admittedly, interesting.

Anyway, on to happier things. Having got back into Swansea today, I’ve pretty much unpacked and started sorting out. After being given a telle I’ve been trying to get it to work with my laptops TV-Out in Ubuntu. This turned out to be both easy and difficult. Thanks to xrandr the Ubuntu bit turned out to be really easy, the problem turned out to be that the telle doesn’t want to accept the S-Video signal after it’s been converted to Scart, as it doesn’t have an s-video input. I’ve avoided this problem by cunningly switching my gained TV with the TV from downstairs, as it has an s-video input! So I can now watch DVD’s and things via my laptop, with the sound through the computer surround sound speakers :-)

I’ve also repaired one laptop today and managed to do all of my washing. Been quite productive all in all.

Tomorrow I need to finish my belated lab report (damn illnesses), and hopefully make a start into my revision. That makes it a library day from start to finish.

One thing I didn’t realise how much I missed till I got back was my Banjo. Just goes to show really…..
